Romain Gavras is a French-Greek filmmaker. His feature film Athena was selected for the Official Competition at the Venice International Film Festival in 2022 and is currently available on Netflix. The action thriller received widespread critical acclaim for its portrayal of social unrest and political tensions. His second feature, The World Is Yours, starring Vincent Cassel and Isabelle Adjani, premiered at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival Directors' Fortnight and went on to receive several nominations at the César Awards. Gavras made his feature-film debut in 2010 with the dark comedy thriller Our Day Will Come, also starring Vincent Cassel. Alongside his work in cinema, he has directed acclaimed music videos for artists including Jay-Z and Kanye West (No Church in the Wild), M.I.A. (Bad Girls), Jamie xx (Gosh), and Justice (Stress), several of which were shortlisted for the Grammy Award for Best Short Form Music Video. His forthcoming feature, Sacrifice, starring Anya Taylor-Joy, Chris Evans, Vincent Cassel, Salma Hayek and John Malkovich, is due for release later this year.
