The SLAM Festival poster pays tribute to the profound connection between music and image that runs through the history of cinema, celebrating one of its most iconic creative partnerships: that of Federico Fellini and Nino Rota.

For the festival’s second edition, the poster features an original illustration by Fellini, kindly provided by the Fellini Estate.

Drawn from their archives, the artwork is a dreamlike sketch reminiscent of the Oscar-winning director’s cinematic universe, depicting him listening to the melodies of his friend and longtime collaborator Rota. Wearing his unmistakable wide-brimmed hat and scarf, Fellini becomes a symbol of an experience where listening and seeing become one. An invitation to experience cinema not only through the eyes, but also through the sounds and music that help bring its magic to life.

Drawing by Federico Fellini, depicting himself alongside his friend and maestro Nino Rota at the piano (1980).

SLAM was founded in 2025 through a collaboration between CAM Sugar and Triennale Milano. On December 11, 12, and 13, 2026, the two institutions will open their doors for the festival’s second edition.

The dialogue between visual and sonic arts, between music and images, lies at the heart of the festival. Beyond directors and composers, the programme brings together some of the most influential figures from the worlds of cinema and music, featuring both celebrated artists and internationally renowned industry professionals.

Concerts, film screenings, listening sessions, talks, workshops, masterclasses, and DJ sets unfold from morning until well past midnight, creating an inclusive and accessible space where research and education meet passion, discovery, and entertainment.

SLAM serves as a cultural bridge between historical heritage and experimentation—a journey that begins with rediscovery and leads into the unknown.
